really geat work

Your other shadow box's great too! Any chance of a PC gaming lady - y'know, mouse and keyboard? I'm always pushing my luck w/ these reviews...

knobbywood responds:

Funny you mentioned that, I plan on doin a whole series of these ladies doin or "playing" different objects. PC, guitar, atari, and so on :)

You Win!

Red, green and white - must be a Christmas contest! You didn't airbrush the freckles off her, did you? The "here i iz" look is captivating and well composed.

G0blin responds:

Hm, Nope. Just a portrait contest. Redhead with green eyes. (:
And she had no freckles to draw.

I see you're going for the iconoclastic style.. whatever that means. You missed a little shading on the cat's body. The cat's "skin-handle" wrinkles don't look realistic. It's a cute piece!

Loopykitty responds:

Thank you I shall indeed heed your words! :)

Expressive

The angles make the attitude work in this sketch. It really looks 80's like, with the exception of the tats - most punks never had enough dough, but piercings can be infected by anyone! One star off for facial composition, though I like the one or two lines that hint at a 3/4 look... well done and welcome to NG!

g4mbi7girl responds:

thank you so much!

out of curiousity, what about the facial comp is bugging you?

Ever so slight mess up

Myself, I would've overlooked the hand (composition seems right). See? There are so too female tentacle monsters! Nice job.

KiLLeRKaT93 responds:

thanks!

Nope

..between chaos and order, light and dark. The textures have an organic, natural feel, as does the female form. One star off for favoring chaos and the vague nature of the dark form in the upper right.. but that's just me. It's worth more than just a quick glance, this piece.

DeadOnStudios responds:

Thank you and I have to agree with your score as well :)

I like. It works.

Great colors in a patchwork! I especially like the gray shading on the space-ship thingy in the upper left (in the red area); it kinda shows (infers) there is a light source on the right side of the picture... really brings out the depth of the whole piece. Good show, old man.

Butzbo responds:

Well curiously the 'space-ship' was one of the first things i collored, and it worked quite well with some sort of shading, but for most of the "creatures", it was hard to create the same effect without making it too 'weird looking/confusing', so i just kept the first one like that, and it's interesting to know that just that was enough to make it look deeper.
Thanks a lot for reviewing!

Purrrr ple

Just love the shading in the hair - it's a nice effect! Great textures make this picture. Such a demure face... well done. Her butt's still rounded when her leg's up (this is the only criticism I have!)?

KillstixCHix responds:

Thank you!

If this woman was the inspiration... damn. Excellent work all around - great job on the freckles, bg and hair! I guess I've had muses of a sort, but mostly draw upon my own idiosyncrasies, which is too bad when I consider this piece.

knobbywood responds:

Yeah the freckles were fun, I just threw some water colors onto a scrap piece of paper, scanned it in and then made a new layer set the properties to color burn and dropped the opacity to about 50%. The result was a natural soft freckle, it worked out pretty well

Thanx for the comments.

Lovely

We've both been here for years, and I've never commented on any of your work (art, flash or collab-wise). I'm so old, I don't remember the rhyme on which you based this picture... Depth and lighting are spot on; the water splashing is elegantly portrayed. One star off for being a little too centered(?) Thanks for your years of service to the NG community!!

ReNaeNae responds:

...and a thank you to you as well! :)

There are variations but:

Rub a dub dub,
Three men in a tub,
And who do you think they be?
The butcher, the baker,
The candlestick maker.
Turn them out, knaves all three.
