I never thought I'd give a 5 star rating to a Sonic character, but BAM, here tis. Anyone bitches about a missing BG can get stuffed - this piece pops off the page. The attention to the shading with regard to the light source is brilliant. The layout of the face, eyes and mouth are all well placed and composed. Some damn fine work on the shading - the hand and the coarseness of the hem of her dress, compliment the smoothness and opacity of other areas like the face and the hair behind her head....

Yanimae responds:

Thank you for the wonderful comments! It's nice when I get long messages, both for constructive purposes and positive comments.

Why is there hair colored goo spewing out the back of her head (below her ears)? They thoughts about her hair?
Context aside, I like the body shape and layout of features, but the background is puzzling.... it seems centered around her mammary glands. The no gusta look is nice :3

FrostDrive responds:

I have a friend who draws slime hair alot.
I thought it was cool so I did it too.

The three critters are distinctive, but not overwhelming; background is pastel, soft and lovingly detailed.... for a children's book, but certainly not a cheap or gaudy one.
It's really good to see something other than yer ol' OC's :3

LovelyKouga responds:

Thank you! ^^ I used a watercolour paper texture for overlay effects~
My OC's are my hobby, really, but I can imagine it might get tiresome seeing them over and over. XD

Ooo, it's winking and smiling and twitching :3 Aside from the malformed, out stretched hand, this is pure cuteness! I did notice a color change on the smaller critters ear band (and shoe) in one of the frames, but this is a very pleasant picture. I guess it could use a background of some kind, but the subjects stand out nicely.

MaggieTheFox14 responds:

Thanks So Much! x3

Ha, I know of Edgar Wright and I'm glad you got to put some of your work in front of him! This piece has an early 20th century photographic feel to it, kinda like some of your other work. Only niggle would be the lowered left arm's forearm bend (and shortness of raised forearm), but maybe that's the way they looked back in the day, when labor was a hard and daily activity.
Congratulations on the win - may you receive many more!

My critical review: Awwwwww :3

kiareri responds:

Lol thank you! :)

This work questions our notions of life as we know it. There are other dimensions than these....
Don't know what to make of the bottom line art happenings... specifically the right rock - is that a drawing of the creature on the left. Is that a blue tongue on the crouching creature?
Sometimes I like not knowing what in the hell I'm looking at. I'm happy with this.

FarturAst responds:

Very interesting interpretation ;)

Yeah, the inside side of the knee doesn't have such a long crease.
Yeah, a little big here, a little small there, but the whole composition looks like it doesn't wanna be corrected: it stands (sits) on it's own. The hair and the fullness of the face really help set the rest of the body off. Nice seat-signature :3

XxThumbsuckerxX responds:

Thank you, yes I really like showing off curves & sometimes I go a little too far. - thank you very much for the fair review. x

Ah, funny? I just got done planting (plants not kittens, though there are 3 of em out there) farming, when this comes up :P The last frame shows a ponytailed guy (again, wtf?); at least I wasn't wearing a wifebeater.
I think this is a great idea, as it looks like a reality TV show, in a wonderfully ludicrous way.
You got the vote of this farmer to continue, if you wish. Well done.

Sexual-Lobster responds:

thanks man
(although thats supposed to be a woman at the bottom, but it doesn't really matter)

I'd most certainly have given this a higher star rating, if I knew a little about the premise behind this. This from a vider game? The setting looks well rendered and complimentary to the 'tenderly distracted' subjects on the right.... what's that device in the lowest right? A good piece, with plenty of detail (I've done that to drop lights once) that doesn't seem to bunch up. Implied textures also kick ass!
Hmm, tag sez TF2... they have scripts in these 'shoot em up' games? Who knew it had a romantic sub-plot?

Civilized-Apocalypse responds:

so im getting a bad rating because you yourself dont know what this fandom is from. wow seems fair, thats totally the reasoning behind the rating
