I saw this on your site a few days ago. What drew me to it, was the nuanced face. There's something in that gaze, that comes from her experiences in the past... must mean you're doing something right :)

I like how simple the subject is. Nothing's embellished or out of proportion or idealized. Anything more complex looking would be trouble. Lol, I just picked the last of this years tomatoes out of the garden, so that's contributing to the review...
Help with chores? Sounds like the wife's old job.. joke may have been a tad better if the bereaved asked for something specific like going through her stuff (final effects), or something. Still, the point was made!
Snarky looking little bloke, isn't he? Thanks Sab, it's a nice interpretation :)
Thanks man! c:
Glad you like it!
And thanks even MORE for helping me out when I was in a jam. It means a lot.
Sorry it's not more stylized - I think I duplicated the style too much rather than focusing on making it my own.
Cheers, and hope you feel better soon! c:
It's adorable! Only, is that a lot of 'lens flare' on the tree, above and below the subject, or just lighting? The lighting looks good on the branch above the beehive, but in other places it looks.. against the grain? Just looks a bit splotchy is all.
All the other elements like the sunrays coming down, composition and coloring, are all spot on :) Just beeing picky because it's such a nice piece!
Thanks vicarious, I am always looking for detailed reviews as I am learning composition and coloring. Your review helped a lot. :)
Wait, is this a canvas? Major texture/cracking going on, nice! The subjects really do live up to this pieces title! The visual variations in all 3 of them, seem to point to other subjective things... so my rating goes from 4 1/2 stars to 5, though I'm not crazy about the center guy's hand/pinky, and have no idea what the oblong, microphone head looking thingy is, on the bottom to the center guy's left... fudge pop?
It's a 9x 12 canvas if my measurements are right. it originally was a paiting from 2011/10 that i regessoed. the goesso had a tendency to crack and gave it this texture which worked out becuse i thought it was so cool. I thknk the fugepop you're reffering to is his shoulder. i swear the lighting in the studio blows more chunks than a bullimic. it makes his pinkie and shoulder kida iffy since the refferences were under a really dramaytic liught. urgh.
Wow dude, do I need to wish you luck? I think you've got an excellent chance at winning :)
Thanks a lot! <3
Totally groovy! I can see where you wanted to replicate/placehold teeth on her cheek, kinda like your Halloween makeup from a few years back. Just loving her embellishments :)
