Very nice indeed! Who knew a creator of (great) pixel games, could be such a good artist! Her outstretched fist looks a bit floaty, but I'm sure it's her padded, poofy shoulder that enhances the illusion. Love to see more work like this!

I've been always a graphics artist, but I started doing pixel art and games about 2 or so years ago. I have a proper dA account too but I figured I could start posting my things here too: http://adventureislands.deviantart.com/
Like most of the work you've showcased here, it's so full of detail and style, it's hard to review! The only quibble I have with this piece, are her legs. The apparent length would make her a giant, they're a bit too thin, and the lower legs (below the knees) look awkward and too short. Left boot also looks a tad misshapen.
thanks! yeah the legs are weird XD that's why I don't like this one so much. But she has huge platforms, that's why she looks bigger though
AH! My eeeyyes! But it's not a bad take on abstract art at all! As a lay person, one who has not studied the arts, I'd say it looks like a playing card composition...
The red hand kinda sums up LIz Taylor's life, and career.. guess you get 5 stars!
Lol, thanks! It does a number on the eyes. I did like the textured areas against the solid colors ^_^
The left eye's center is a bit too bright to be a could... aliens? Btw, what am I seeing the sky through? It's either a fence with a weird round arch, or a car's back windshield (defroster wire)... either way, it's got a damn eerie feel, with a deep dark depth!
Hehe, thank you! I always enjoy throwing in a creepy thing here and there, glad you liked it! Also, yeah the perspective is a bit strange, but it's actually a picture of basically what one would see if they were to lay in my bed and look up out through the window on the wall next to it. The bar is part of my bed, and the black lines are my window shutters silhouetted against the moonlight. I guess on second thought I could have gone without them, but eh, true to the nature of what I see I suppose, heh.
I like the positions and a lot of the anatomy (yum!), but on most, the roundness of the hips is too high... or maybe it's the 'fat displacement problem'. Artistic license vs real-life-anatomy are two very different things. Try the latter of the two (real-life), then the fun stuff goes easier!
yeah, id like to make anatomy drawing close to reality but not too much that it looks like just cartoonised humans like in marvel/DC comics for example
It's a nice enough drawing, but there's.. no context. Maybe if there some other items failing around the way the mammaries do... Plus, I don't think skin works that way :( Still cute and innovative tho.
For everything made there's a trade off, and while I could have made the rest of her body move with the boobs, or made the environment around her move as well in more realistic manners I don't think it would be as funny, and would venture exclusively into something more arousing or pornographic. When something is just purely defying gravity or is strangely out of place in an unrealistic way I find it silly and funny in an absurd way. I feel like other mediums can't pull off this type of humor as well as animation. The thing though is when people then take the art of animation as purely trying to recreate reality when what appeals to me is more looney toon inspired in which defying the expectations of reality is at the core of the humor. As I am already typing too much all I can say is I could have done better and I could have added more depth but I felt like simplicity is more realistic for me to release things in a manageable pace. Thank you for the reasonable score and review.
I see fire and kids watching it. The discarded teddy bear might mean this fire wasn't on purpose... looks like something one of the kids from "The Outsiders" might've drawn, after the house burned down... and in that respect, this is a powerful piece.
But since an educated, practiced artist drew it, hmmm, well, I knocked off a star for lack of building and fire clarity.. looks the BG was done quickly too.
Yeah, it was a quick sketch. I was more focused on the characters and the teddy bear...but i should've put more details in the building and background.
Thank you for the comments! ^_^
At first glance, I knew who it was (met him briefly yesterday!) Some of the contrast in the shirt collar and coat (on the left, and uppermost left) looked a little untidy, but the piece as a whole is just striking, especially considering the interface used... it does look so much like actual brushstrokes!
The detailed background and perfectly rendered face, shows dedication and talent. Looks sweet framed too!
Aw, thanks for the feedback. Thinking just in terms of contrast let me notice a bunch of problems I'd sort of felt but not been able to identify, so thank you so much for mentioning it. It was great bumping into you this weekend!
This is a really nice piece, even with out the good story. Bereavement certainly does feel like a spotlight on ones soul. There's a fair amount of anguish that translates well off the canvas.
I find it odd that I recognize his clothing as Australian military wear... but that only enhances the intrigue. The boot next your signatory mark, looks a bit formless and awkward. I guess the gleam of the upper vest, is okay, if a bit pointed.... still helps accentuate/ frame the face.
Yeah I messed up the boots - I wanted tohave the elements outside of the spotlight less defined, but I don't think it sold too well.
Thanks for your review, glad you like it :)
