Well am glad you got out of it fast, actually 2 weeks is kinda too fast.

A whole farm for $30,000? sounds too good to be true, apartments nowadays are more expensive than that.

Since you are doing the clean up ins't there a way to safeguard for yourself the things that you don't want to be sold? (like the tool box).

It's more like a very small house with a shooting shack on 5 acres in the middle of nowhere... with 2 go-go bars nearby? Hm, maybe I should look into it.....

I've got 2 Pack Rat containers, seems like the last place to put stuff, but packing and storing at the same time has gotten just stupid |: but there's little choice, since so much has been lost already.

But I'm at a point where 90+% my stuff has been 'segregated' from the free-for-all zone |: A man's home is his castle, bah.

Wait you were in the farm at the same time when the buyers were supposed to be doing their 48 tour day? man that doesn't sounds good, didn't anyone care to make a notification about when they were going to do their thingy? is that ":p" a happy face? you are getting less money man...

Mmmh 5 acres into meters that is... 20234.3 m^2 that's about 150 meters per side... mmh yeah that's not too big on the other side http://www.ozarkland.com/JustHowBig.htm actually that page doesn't helps at all haha, the big side is 660 on meters that is 182, and the small one is half that... so we get about 200 x 100, not bad actually. And it is in the middle of nowhere! with 2 go-go bars nearby (had to google that, be glad you are not on Thailand!), sounds like a win XD.

How big is the current farm?

But are you counting furniture, in those? since they take so much space a few of them can fill one container.

Man that' a crime, if those are your things, those are your things, have you tried sucker-punching your brothers and securing your stuff while they are out cold?

The plan made sense: they'd have 48 hours alone on their new property, then put the final payment down for it... but the silence on their end is saying, they either don't want it (and will relinquish the previous, small deposits), or they want a much lower price.

Wow, cool link, and yeah, it's not enough for 5 steer, sorry O_o The farm here is about 13 acres, minus trees and buildings and such. The distance between the farm house and rental house (where the wifi is) is 300 feet... had a good batch of watermelon in that field this year.

Nah, don't have much furniture, gave half of it away at last year's auction - no couch and the 2 easy chairs (the cat likes to sleep on/scratch the bottom of those) will stay or get chucked, if I move.

That's the thing - my sis always gives me less than 2 days notice before she shows up, and is always around... guess they're wary of me hiding treasures away |: Well, you know what they say, the more you think something's gonna happen, the more likely it is gonna happen :\

Mmmh.

Oh watermelons! nice, so about 100+ meters away from the internet, quite the walk.

I see, then that's a lot of stuff you have saved in those containers.

I think it is more like, we are already at the expectation of something happening, so if it happens, we notice it more easily and also remember it more easily, so we start thinking that our thoughts actually generated the event, on the other hand we also have to see why we have those thoughts to start with, if the causes and motives behind the spectated event are plausible then the event actually happening will have an increase in its probability of occurrence.
In this case your siblings are around the zone, and they don't trust you, plus they are wary of what may happen with the things in the far... long story short, it will happen even if you don't think about it XD; maybe if you act on it... like lets say hit them with a shovel...

I barely saved enough stuff to continue farming here... or wherever I end up.

'The watched pot never boils', 'If you wish for something hard enough, you'll eventually get it', 'Heisenberg Principle'...

The sale of the farm may or may not happen, depending on price, time, even world/financial events that haven't taken place yet.

This is why I don't like owning too much stuff. :3
I see some nice tractor tires back there.

Actually, there's less stuff than I thought there'd be. I've always been pretty poor, my father was the one with the iron hoarding fetish...

Hm, both of them (tires) were pretty bad off, and are now in the trash dumpster. The bigger of the two were for the John Deere A type tractor, and the slightly smaller, but wider one went to a Massey Ferguson tractor, both gas powered, early 60's machines.

Asterix is teh best

Man then just what did you put on 2 whole containers? it is not furniture, it is not tools, it is not farming equipment... what could take that much space?

I don't think that is how the uncertainty principle works... but what about 'if you want the pot to boil, what about starting a fire instead of just staring at it?' - The Doomroar Suggestion.

But then if is not sold, you are only getting an extension until the next interested customer appears, are you hoping for the price of the farm to continuously drop until you become able to buy it for yourself? Because if that is the plan, what about sabotaging the thing on purpose?

Money talks and bullshit walks...Action speaks louder than words sir. Hope all works out. Have a safe and Happy Holiday.

Thank you good sir, and may you and yours also have a very merry Christmas :)

Hmm, sounds like a lot of going on but not much progress this past week. :/ Maybe they'll dig so deep they find oil! That'd be interesting. Whatever happened to that new computer you were waiting on earlier btw?

Happy Holidays?

I haven't heard anything, granted, only 2 business days so far this week. I got he parts tot he new computer earlier this month, and a homeless guy I met over the summer put it together, I only had to switch the leads on the water cooler, and the rig's now perfect (the specs are in the Computer Building Club). Runs great, though the only slightly modern game I've run on it, was GTA IV... which won't run good because I have no unlock code, the screen bobs around worse and worse as the game goes on, making it unplayable.. thanks Securom |:

Eh, thanks? Couldn't even buy Metro for myself yesterday, as the game store was swamped.... only one stack of PC games in the entire store, the rest were for kiddie consoles :p

All things considered it sounds weird to go around saying happy holidays, but man what else could we say? hope your family gets a sudden change of mind and they let you keep the farm, i guess that would be one of those mythical Christmas miracles.
Anyway best wishes.

The farm taxes are ridiculously low, but the old house sitting in the middle of it's got high taxes... everything around here is for people who make an average of 65,000$ a year |: I'd need all the kids in town.... to die, before I could afford to keep living here.

Merry Christmas Mr. Roar :)

Ah nice, it's up and running! GTA IV had a pretty bad memory leak bug anyway so depending on computer specs/settings it'd crash after an undefinable amount of play time, even with patches. On my new(er) computer that was two hours on high settings. For shame since they started with PC and gained such fame much thanks to their loyal fanbase on this one console. I hear GTA V might finally be here (for PC) the 27 of January though, only two years behind schedule! :O

Had to add that question mark cause you know, maybe your holiday hasn't been all that happy. :P But I mean it with all the !'s possible!

Shiiiit, I played the first GTA 15 years ago, stole the sub 20MB game on FTP... no audio, but that was okay. Hadn't heard about the memory leak :\ Maybe I'll just DL the shiny mod for GTA:SA... no idea why I put that on the new beast, I played SA to death and to dust. Not holding my breath on GTA V, it'll be here when it's done....

Yeah, not a happy X-mas, but at least I got the aluminum foil just right... so I can play a game (and hopefully not lose medals to the bad connection), and talk to the good folks of NG, like yourself :) so there's that at least!

3 days left (and counting)

Er, the clock stopped this past Friday the 19th... even my sister left that day, because the extensively mentioned move/sale thing never happened. I doubt much will come of this 2 week extension the other party wanted.

Mmm, those days! :) I played GTA for the first time in middle school, think. In computer class the teacher let us stay after lessons, link together all the computers via LAN and ride around killing people. Probably not the most responsible teacher now that I look back at it. :P And to think these classics are all available for free now: http://www.rockstargames.com/classics/

Wonder if we were playing a legal copy back then, no idea who had actually attained the game...

Yupp, the PC port of GTA IV was a bit of a disaster, even if the game itself was great. Do hope they've learned from past mistakes with the new one though. I'm expecting GTA V to be like a hundred GTA SAs! :O The wide-stretched dusty landscapes of SA held me captive for years, far more than any of the previous games did, so really looking forward to this. I thought I'd managed to drop the hype already but... it's back. :/

That's something. :) Merry Medaling!

I've got the DVD .isos for GTA IV, it just doesn't work, it goes straight into 'drunken glitch' mode, put there to deter ppl like me... wonder if I can just buy the code from Rockstar and use my 'discs'? There's no way I can DL 14 GB with the wifi connection the way it is....

Have you tried any GTA IV mods, they look awfully good!

That sucks, well then hope you get a good deal so you can acquire a good farm all to yourself, there's still new year, hope is a happy 1.

Eh, hope... 'I've never known Hope when she wasn't on a diet' |:

I went to the mailbox this evening, hoping for a nice surprise, and found one of my black male cats, dead, smack dab in front of the driveway by the road |: He must've been hit minutes before I walked outside, 'cause he was still warm. I guess he won't be helping me pick produce next year...

Mmm, I actually found a cheap second-hand copy of GTA IV early on (about a dollar) so no idea how to best get it working otherwise. They're making things pretty complicated with the obligatory Rockstar Social Club and stuff. Seem to be plenty of no-cd's around though.

I thought I'd play out the game before I started installing mods, but never got around to it!

Is the memory leak that bad? If I have to reload after every mission, it's no problem, just at a loss for what I can do with my 2 iso files O__O I know how to mount discs and use crack generators, but it's been a while, and the new software (along with Win7, which is still new to me) is getting hairy :|

Your life is keeping it real, way too real which means your siblings probably will try to cheapen the price of the farm just to sell it fast, aren't there any other bidders for that farm?

Yeah, but they'll (house builders) pay less, since they wanna subdivide it for houses, and that is where the the state and town really make money, and the landowner, does not. Plus, they won't buy unless they take the better part of a year to figure out how to grade and build within code/bribe to skirt the code.

So you're no longer a farmer?
The downside: The new bills (fuck it all)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qOaqiCBum2w
The good side: You're still among us and have memories of your past life
The bright side: You can start an artistic age instead!
Either way, you will definitely go through this shit, my fortune telling no-experience is the proof :P
Happy new year man :D

Still no idea, but if I'm still here when spring comes, I'll work the ground.
Yeah, I've made it my life mission to not get many monthly bills |:
Hmm, seems like I said 'fuck it all' a while back...
...yup, brain still holds memories okay
.......maybe. I've got my old videocamera back, with tons of unaired footage on Hi8, and a copy of Sony Vegas, so it doesn't look to dated (you can always tell the age of video by it's appearance, and mine screams late 90's)

Thanks for the support and the tidings for the new year! Hopefully it won't be as bonkers as 2014 O_O

Well if you don't play for too long in one run I suppose it's tolerable, and I could've probably lowered my settings a bit to let it run longer, but having the game crash at random intervals when you haven't saved takes some of the fun away. :/ I seem to remember another bug with the controls for playing pool as well, where it was impossible to finish the game if you had the wrong keyboard layout, or something... anyway, as for the .iso problem... don't know what I could suggest that the net doesn't know.

When I was planning on what games I'd run off my new rig, it wasn't terribly ambitious... GTA IV, the first few Borderlands, Mass Effect 1-3. I figured the 'net' would provide, so long as my wifi isn't too badly stomped on, by people on the same channel :|

Good choice of games though! Heard good things about Borderlands and Mass Effect, but have yet to play them. Nearest playlist items are Wolfenstein: The New Order, Far Cry 3-4 and probably GTA V before I get through those. Max Payne 3 was the one I most recently finished, great game, though the filesize was just incredible. 30GB. Biggest game yet.

After I get cleaned up, I'm going to the city to find a new wifi thing... really sick of barely connecting, just hope the new one works (I've been through a few of these wireless stations before, and none seem to work as well as the ancient laptop's wireless g... which I can, and did, fettle to increase latency over the 100m distance...)

The new Wolf does look good, but 60$ new.... I do have a thing (rebate for a PC product.unlock code) for Far Cry 4, but I have to DL it :\ Really not looking forward to Steam... I'm an old school, 1 playa kinda guy, who prefers offline gaming |:

What about auctioning the place? that normally rises the price.
I would recommend Bioshock (all 3 of them).

Then we'd be committed to selling to 'whatever' price, which is kinda risky, because the buyer could back out entirely, raise a stink later on... lawyers/real estate agents hate to be left out of the mix, and would purposely fuck it up... which they may actually be doing right now O_O

Okay... so how do I get it (the first one)? If someone sells a used game to me, I won't be able to unlock it, because they already registered it online, right? So much has happened to PC gaming in the past few years.... :p

That old wifi sounds almost unhealthily powerful. ;)

The new Wolf IS great! Though Bethesda (makers of Rage, amongst other games) kept some RPG-inspired elements from aforementioned title in this one, where you have to interact with people amidst the missions, return to base, look for random objects etc. The graphics, sceneries, controls, weapons, story and pretty much everything is awesome, but that one little RPG element instantly cancels out the sense of isolation and continuity you had in the past games. Like the fact there's a WAR going on. Shouldn't be time to look around for lost toys or chat your friends & Co when you're battling vicious foes for the future of humankind! And certain elements are clearly HL2 inspired as well. But, it's all good, just feels they messed up their opportunities at making this one of those future classics: the game you'll play over and over and over again! Oh, yeah, wouldn't spend $60 on it!! Insane game prices.

I've managed to avoid Steam so far, but guess it's just a matter of time now... though GOG's a pretty neat alternative. Intense isolated offline experiences! Launcherless no-nonsense-background-applicating gaming! How real games are meant to be played!!

Nah, it's just got presets, kinda like an old shortwave radio set, so you can precisely (I hope there's a new Prosnorkulous New Year's Day) tune in atypically weak signals. Just got a new doohickey that's got this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beamforming (I wish Neitz was here...), so no more aluminum foil and endless adjusting, I hope...

Sweet review, thanks! I played a few of the older incarnations of Wolfenstein, and liked the slight rpg element and expansive areas... meh, always shit to hunt for in vidya games |: sometimes I ignore them altogether.. like, I ain't gonna shoot 250 birds in IV, that's crazy.

Yeah, if this radio thing gets my monsta PC online, I'll definitely give GOG a go first... damn, it's been a while since I had a dedicated PC online! But yeah, there's times I just like to turn the wifi/internet off, and just enjoy canned content, of which, games are aces :3

I dislike anything more than a single communication between gamer and gamemaker, just enough to verify the game and leave me alone: no passwords, no log in, no ads, no surveys, no personal questions, no stolen bandwidth.... OOOog. I might just see if I can't contest off the 2 e-games I got on rebate: Far Cry 4 and Thief (4)... which mod should I ask? Might keep Far Cry :\
