I'm going to Pico Day and...

It's not easy for someone with borderline Asperger's to go across state lines, to attend a loud, crazy party for the weekend.  Plus, I've still got the same problem I had 16 years ago (Problems of the future, today!).  How do I justify my membership in a website, that caters to specific entertainment professionals (who are much younger than I am)?

Before I took the leap and joined the membership, I had been producing video for clients (weddings, commericals, music videos), and public access cable television (Yotam & Fantasia, Wayne's World, my own show was called Disposable People).  The days of cassette editing and studio work are long behind me... but I still feel the need to tell the content producers here, well, anything that will pick their spirits up! 

Production of content is a lonely, tiring, shitty-paying business, and it's up to fans and interested parties alike, to egg them on, make their efforts meaningful and worthwhile. 

Newgrounds does not support purely live-action video.  Only on rare occassions they will accept video material that is based exclusively on the site itself.  Over this Pico Day weekend, I will be assisting RealFaction in interviewing the admins, mods and members of this website.

I don't have a nice, bulky videocamera to smoothly cover the action, instead I've got a dinky, digital camera with delusions of grandeur.  It sucks heavy donkey dick, but it'll do, so long as folks speak up and face the light.

This will be my 4th visit, and I'm still scared and excited to be around creative people in the prime of their lives.

Just to get it out of the way, I'd like to thank Tom Fulp and his staff for their years of service and hospitality.  Thank you, for everything by everyone, thank you for this digital home-for-the-creatively-insane. 

My thoughts and prayers for all those who cannot attend, go with me (such as I am).

Damn dude you did all that? Wow. Did you ever have to actually do linear editing, like with two vcrs and shit? That would drive me nuts, but I would kind of like to do it just to have experienced that kind of editing.

See you this weekend of course and at least now I know what you look like, haha.

Uh yeah, and lo it did sucketh. I lost years of my life smoking, and editing, and twitching from being in such close proximity to so many electronic, motorized tape decks. It did drive me nuts, really miss it... Nah I could've been much better, but rarely had access to the latest gear at the time, I got good at roughing it, in many ways.

I was really proud to have done optical effects, with no training... few years ago, I found and bought 2 ancient texts on optical effects for film, *smug faic* I damn near pegged and used them all.

That poor, innocent little kid.... mutated, like a ninja turtle :(

Yeah, almost didn't.. money trouble mostly. Rear caliper brake cylinder fell out, shattered on the rotor, which also needed to replaced... even though I installed a new one late last year. The price of parts and labor were very reasonable, but still set me back.

Gotta hit you up for a video interview, as well as catch up... last few parties sure have been wild!

Last time I quit it was for 3 months, I was over the worst of it until... I caught a stinging whiff of a friend's butt, and just went into full junkie mode, like a switch got flipped.

Using mirrors/mylar and clear glass/plexi in front of the camera lens, you can produce your own dissolves/transitions/overlays. Also depends greatly on lighting sources and angles. There are so many examples, I'd be here all night.... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compositing It's a flipping shame I never got ahold of a good green-screen/chroma machine, had so many skits and ideas written down.

Btw, logged on to GTA social club to retrieve a few snapshots, found your friend request and hit the button :) I finally did all the heist missions a day or two ago... finishing Humane Labs was a real treat. Need to look up the second to last mission, where you infiltrate the base and plant the war wagon, I've seen one guy get to the garage by himself from ground level

I appreciate all the help and support you give to all the other users, really, i just wish i knew anything about animation, programming, making music or even art, that way i'd be able to review everyone's work and give them tips alongside my opinion, but alas, since i know jack shit it sort of removes the motivation from critiquing people's submissions as often.

Yeah sucks some of us can't go to Pico Day. Damn you Atlantic Ocean! If i knew how to swim i'd at least try to swim through it to get to you guys.
Meh, maybe one day if i ever have the money i'll take a mini vacation and fly over to Philly (do they even have airports) and spend my day with everyone else, we'll meet up and i'll buy you some booze, aight?
I'll have to content myself with watching the stream for most of the day, i saw you a couple of times last Pico day (maybe the one before as well unless i'm mistaken), you were on camera a couple of times and even said some encouraging words to someone in the chat.

Yeah, Philly's got an airport, but you'd do better getting a room further north, near the action... cheaper. If you're good with mass transit, it's even cheaper.

IDK if I have the heart to watch the stream, will likely try fixing the truck during that time, just to keep my head from going poof

Ah, I gotcha. That'd be neat to work with too. Using the computer is cool and all, but sometimes its just like, "eh." Ya know? It'd be a bit...more hands-on. As far as the green screen, why couldn't you try to put some of those ideas to fruition with a computer? Pretty easy nowadays, mostly.

Yeah, I saw on your profile you have a GTA link on there and decided to add you. I don't even know if I still have it installed on my PC but i figured why not. I think I've only beat one heist and that was two years ago or so. Maybe two heists.

I'd like to think they got the (kinda specific) amd/intel glitch thing figured out by now... I'm guessing that's what your problem was. It's worth logging in just to see if a new update fixes it, if not, fuck it, it's a uuuuge game, get some HD space back

If so, I bet it's faster that way, than to keep swapping DVD's for hours on end... through Steam? If not, make sure you got the serial number.

I don't drink often, but I sure as fuck did last night... and the game servers were down for somekinda emergency maintenance. You could play story mode, if you were lucky. Then around 2am it starts working again.

Did a mission with 3 other guys, and what happens? Someone (Chinese guy) uses a hack to trip-skip to the end lol! Malicious in-game hacking has gotten pretty rare there lately though... not that it ever bothered or impacted my game badly at any time. It could though, crime through association does seem to happen, as does bad game saves. Sure adds spice to the miasma ;)

The party breaks up in and around midnight, but the last train out is 10PM I think, gotta ask Luis... ha, give Luis a kiss on the cheek from me!

I used to work 2nd shift too... now get some rest, party starts around 10AM and fills up at say 2-3PM, when the sun fails, then ppl start leaving (God knows why)

you are one of the old legends of newgrounds, and i still remember NG's old ''the problems of the future today'' motto, back when ''politically correct'' stuff didnt even exist...
(even tho the new motto ''everything by everyone'' sounds more artistic and more user-friendly... so its also good...)

man, i first discovered NG on 2001, but i got scared by the violent games, and i left... and when i returned on late 2002-early-2003, i started watching many movies+playing many NG games...
i've been lurking NG actively since 2003, so i've seen many good movies, and many good series that later became classics.

(beebo the cat with facial hair, pico, the assasin games, stickmen movies like xiao xiao, the stick slayer, legendaryfrog's movies, knox's claymations, miss dynamite(few episodes), clockcrew's movies and many more...)

and i eventually joined on 2006. i've seen and liked so many things in here, that newgrounds is truly a part of my (artistic(?)) life.

i really like this place, and i've made some good friends in here. (you are included, mr vicariouse!)
