Happy Easter Kitties

Posted by VicariousE - March 27th, 2016

Not much going on right now, so I'm laying low and trying not to get into any more financial trouble.  Just figures the day a get a few bucks, the truck's brakes spring a leak.  I was really glad it happened after a I got a few essentials from the grocery store, and it was late at night.  You'd think car manufactorers would develop something more reliable than the modern parking brake, which didn't do shit when I used it.  A much better brake would be a rubber belt around the crankshaft...  Anyway, have some gifs and pix!  (If you experience lag, lemme know and I'll nix a few gif)

Heard something interesting on the radio this morning...

From my experience working in public places, parents are most likely to set a bad example for their kids, especially around other parents (and kids).  Free stuff (above) always ellicits bad behavior.  Maybe if there were more of a security presence (below)...

Happy Easter!
Hm, well drawn, but awfully short

SAKAMOTO OVERDRIVE!

From Initial D? Never saw the series, I need to be captured my female otaku and fed acid for a few days. while catching up on the past few decades of anime....

See you at Pico Day.

Last year was crazy, barely said Hi to you :( I RSVP'ed Tom back last night, with the hope my brother's memorial service doesn't get bumped up a weekend, and I actually have the funds to attend.

That dude in the last pic sure does resemble ZJ (minus the hair style), doesn't it?

I just finished watching nichijou.

Also... YOU HAVE A PET OTAKU GIRL?!??!?!?! THAT'S AWESOME!

Lol I wish I did, all I've got are a bunch of otaku cats, and I prefer the two legged variety of puss-puss :\
How's your Easter been? Think I'm going to risk going food shopping tomorrow, before all the discounted candy gets scavenged and savaged the hell up *PROTIP*

Yeah I know, it was crazy. I was all over the place as well running to many faces, never the less it's always cool at NG. And he kinda looks like @ZJ.

This year should be a little more tame, but it's still a lot of drink/talk/walk. And at my age, it's hard to keep the names/faces/usernames/occupations all straight :(

I have to bust his balls, he's too nice and interesting a guy lol

Your not alone, I too have hard time remembering names and faces, but like last year I'll be sure to have my check list with me.

Cheat sheet, huh? Not a bad idea, considering how mammoth the guest list is.

Wonder what the ratio of shows/no shows for Pico day is... likely quite high, considering, you know, the internet spans the planetary electrical grid and then some, but with one notable exception https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_in_Africa I'm sure there's some fantastic content on servers all over Africa, maybe they're better off ignoring the rest of the world..

Sakamoto-san's the cat.

Speaking of cats, I gesticulated and *changed* cats to catgirls in Dwarf Fortress.

The fuck, is it a sentient feline? Most cats (and catgirls) will tell you they are, don't believe them |:

I got a PM from someone recently wondering how I made such wonderful games... oh boy. Keep going for broke dude, really like it when you write in ludicrous mode! I hope catgirls can lick their special spot...

sick anime, dude.

More than a few were lifted from the BBS :p They look cool, but I have no idear whatwhywhere...

happy easter!

also, im reposting this, since i just saw that you've made a NEW seasonal post (thats great!)

here's my reposted comment:

llllllllllllllllllll

hello!

ah yes, the 300 film/trend was a good movie, despite all the hype.
it was a legendary retelling of the true story that happened in thermopylae (aka the ''hot gates''), where 300 spartans fought VS ~100,000 persians, and they eventually got betrayed by ephialtes, and died.
(note: ephialtes was a spartan who wanted to destroy sparta for his own political reasons.. and not a disabled/deformed man like in the movie...)
(it should also be noted that ''ephialtes'' means ''nightmare'' in greek, so some historians claim that this event (the betrayal) had made the greeks to give such a negative meaning to ephialte's name.)

a good way to learn more about the story of the 300 is to read herodotus book about it, or to see the 1960's movie, named ''the 300 spartans''. link:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0055719/?ref_=nv_sr_3

its a great battle, and like many fascinating things, its true.

BTW: oh, a heart beat music program?
it sounds interesting. do you have a link of this?

have a nice day!

lllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll

anyways, i really like your newspost, it has... fallout's sentinel armour, anime, cat gif's, and random crazinesss!
awesome!

tell me your news, and be well!

Eh, I responded to ya in the old post, since it showed up on my feed first.

Pretty sure there's a dude in that Power Armor! My Pop used to love machinery, and could weld really well. I've got more than a few pics of what can be made out of old iron... I'll add them next news post!

PS: also, who's the ''warriors! come out to play!'' guy in the pic?
he seems familiar, but i cannot remember the character/the movie.

hmmph! :O

Ah, here he is: David Patrick Kelly!
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0446314/?ref_=tt_cl_t11
Guess the most recent work I've heard/seen him in, was the Rockstar videogame of the same name!

Love the Security Robot thing. I so want that for my front porch.
We really have this psychic connection thing happening brother. It so happens that I watched last week, A Clockwork Orange and The Warriors. Two absolute classic movies. I hadn't watched them in years.
So have you opened the parcel yet? I'm a little worried that one of the things inside might get a bit deformed and stay that way if left too long. Also please if you could become a follower for me on this game I'm playing. All you need to do is click the link and hit the Tick Button. The more followers that I get the more my gaming experience improves.
http://www.mafiabattle.com/follow/Gamejunkie/
Anybody else that sees this can also do the same, Much appreciated.

Anyone whose been PC gaming for (almost) 20 years would recognize Brotherhood power armor O_o you've never played Fallout?! It you don't mind a little retro gaming, the first game is really good.

I know I keep delaying... been out of food and cash for the past 2 weeks. Oh okay, I'll make an account, so the follow goes through, I've been been reliving old 80's movies by playing GTA 5 online, which is set in L.A., the heart of cheesy movies the world over...

So what ended up happening with the brakes?

We talk on Facebook and via text. She said she'd give me her Skype whenever she figures out what her login info is. Shes graduating from college in December and is crazy busy so I haven't been able to go over and see her yet but we're trying to figure something out because shes been sick for the past week or so and has sinusitis so she needs to take meds for that for the next week or so.

They have about as much space as a normal sized van without (I think) the ability to take seats out.

Still broke, no money to fix the caliper boot.

Hope she gets sorted out soon, it's a shitty thing to live with. Just listened to a track called Sinus by Type O Negative, no tunes, just 'mood' noises.

Sounds pretty good... the seats might be heavy, but would help sound dampening. Always hated the cavernous noises in vans, it's like driving around in a pasted together soda can, with every weld and bolt creaking and bending with every mile....

Hey bud, aside from the brakes and stuff, I hope everything is going okay!

I'm maintaining an even emotional strain, even though I've still got the same problems from the same people as last year... if I had money right now, I'd have to spend it :p

You don't need to make an account for MafiaBattle unless you're gonna play it. To follow me you just have to click the link and hit the Tick button. It only takes 10 seconds. If you do end up playing it, (you should it's awesome), let me know your username. If you want to join my Family just search families for Cockswells. I know it's a shocking name. I've been playing it for 3 weeks, I haven't spent a cent and I'm already Top 25 in Australia in virtually every statistic. It's a game of dedication. If you do end up playing PM me and I'll give you some tips on how to level up.

I tried again, and it said you had 100 followers... so I clicked follow again, should be up to 101 now, unless they filter IP addresses... oh okay, 1 follow per day, per IP address, cool! Didn't even take 10 seconds.

Ah, I've still been humping GTA Online for money and racing wins, which is much easier now that I have a few custom vehicles that are engine, suspension, etc. maxed.. not that every race allows custom racers. Some Chinese kids think it's fine to hack into shortcuts, but it's the exception rather than the rule.

What's the gameplay like? Almost sounds similar to GTA...

hello, vic, how are you?

oh, and thanks for the info about ''david patrick kelly'' and the warriors movie, it was really cool.

BTW, did you knew that the story/script of the movie ''warriors'' was based from xenophon's book, ''Cyrus Anabasis''?
(written in ~401 B.C. by xenophon, it followed the tale of the people who fought alongside cyrus, and how the greek mercenaries that fought for cyrus got stuck in enemy territory, when cyrus died in battle...)

link:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anabasis_(Xenophon)

i think its a nice connection between the ancient history and the (alot more) modern movie...

also, i joined the game mafiabattle thanks to gamejunkie.
also, i helped him with his follower thing, i clicked it too.
its a funny game!

whats new with you?

have a nice day!

Wow talk about 2 blasts from the past! The producer had mentioned the story's Greek origins on the DVD, which I haven't seen in some time. Hollywood hates losing money, and would prefer to re-hash a proven 'property', than to risk a fresh new screenplay going into production.

Is it funny, mafiabattle? GTA 1 and 2 had a lot of laughs, it's a shame they forgot what made their early games so great.

Sorry to hear :/

Well from the sound of things she seems to be doing at least okay now. But I don't know. She also had a doctor's appointment yesterday and had a fight with her mom because shes thinking about transferring colleges. As for the TON song, sounds like a lot of very "ambient" music I've listened to.

Trust me I know exactly what you're talking about. I have to ride around in a van 6 days a week. Granted I don't sit in the back, I still know what you're talking about.

Also a band I listen to called Salem's Pot is releasing a new album in July. And I already have it. I quickly snagged a test pressing when they went on sale back I think last month. They only made 30 test pressings and they all sold out in like 8 minutes. Mine is #6. So I recorded it onto my phone, then put the recordings onto my laptop and am in the process of sening them to that other friend of mine because she likes the band too. But I'm planning on buying it digitally and maybe another color of vinyl. Shes also planning on maybe buying it too. So it's all good. She REALLY wanted to hear it and was really jealous I was able to get it nearly 3 months early.

I'm really glad the music still calls to you. At least there's FLAC, after listening to a few tunes encoded that way, I'm properly impressed with the quality.. though, across the board, I've been very blah lately

Easter was a month ago, whatever. I just wanted to say what a bizarre but entertaining post this was.
Cool power armour too. It probably didn't look so good in real life, regarding the servos and articulation, but...makes for a good photo.

Yeah, old post from an old guy, not much to see here... There's actually a dude in that armor! I'm sure it's just plastic and thin metal plating, no muscle assisting servos or anything cool like that.

The US military's been developing a battery powered exo-skeleton for their soldiers, to be used in long-term deployments in desolate, mountainous terrain. Videos of the prototypes in action, were released about 2-3 years ago.

hello there!

hmmm... for some parts of the world, easter starts now, so i guess your newspost is still relevant!
(so ignore mr. acidX's post above...)

in other news, wow: i liked that part of your post where you told me about:

''Pretty sure there's a dude in that Power Armor! I've got more than a few pics of what can be made out of old iron... I'll add them next news post!''

i also like metal/iron craftmanship, and i would love to create some armour on my own, but sadly, i dont have neither the tools, or the skill to forge my own knight armour! (or even a power armour paladin soldier's outfit, for that matter!)
it would be nice tho.
i bet that you can weld and forge anything that you want in iron, right?
thats cool.

i've seen many cool guys creating armours, swords and gauntlets in youtube, they do some crazy, awesome stuff!

also:

yes, despite the fact holywood people often resort to ''already known stories'' for their movies in order to avoid losing money, i do believe that xenophon's historic account of ''anabasis'', is a legendary story, and it definitely needed to be told (again), in a modern setting, such as the setting of the movie ''warriors''.
there are many great stories that need retelling, and they could even inspire people to create new stories of their own.

thats the power of a great narrative/a grand historic(or fictional) tale.
the coolest thing is, that ''cyru's anabasis'' by xenophon is a real historical event, so its a very exciting story.
i mean, its
greek mercenaries trying to help the persian prince cyrus to win the war against his rivals, and when cyrus suddenly dies in battle, the greek mercenaries are stuck in the middle of an enemy territory, without allies, without friends, without anyone, stuck in there, and they have to quickly escape from persia, in order to flee back to greece.... (safely).

ah, i remember when i first read that story in my school, it was very exciting. sorry if i digress.
nostalgia!

also, about the mafiabattle game:
its pretty funny, especially if you go in missions (and if you attack rivals). its cartoonish and colourful, so its cute.
it has a few glitches and errors here and there, but its a cute game.

i know what you mean, i like funny games too.

the only GTA game that i've ever played, is GTA IV, with nico bellic. (in PS3). it was rather cool, wild and exciting. it had some funny parts too (like all the ''cousin roman'' eating missions, and the jokes between cousin roman, and nico, not to forget the mission on which nico had to pose as a gay man in a date site, in order to assasinate a gun dealer...)

also, all of the girlfriend dating missions were cool.
i just wish it would have more missions/more events/more stuff to do.

really? were the GTA 1 & 2 games funny?
man, i would love to play them, but would they be compatible with our modern PC's?

anyways, if you wish to join the ''mafiabattle'' game, let me know...
i will join gamejunkie's guild/team!

tell me your news, and be well! have a nice day!

I'd need an acetylene/oxygen torch set to bend metal, my father's set was given away after he died, but the kid who got it will likely appreciate it, and use it to better effect than I could... I'm sure Pop would've approved.

I've got a busy time before Pico day, but I'll do my best to make a new post before I go.

Yeah, GTA 3 still had a good sense of humor. I've never played Saint's Row yet, but from reviews and word of mouth, it's supposed to be wonderfully ludicrous >:)

GTA 1 and 2 had missions like: collect people from bus stops with a bus, then deliver them to a hot dog processing plant! After you dropped the bus off, you have to climb to the top of the plant and look down, as your naked passengers are put into the meat grinder.

Another mission has you steal an ice cream truck, then drive it to a certain location in a set time. The goal: to sell a gang leader a poisoned ice cream cone! Dude turns green, drags you out of the ice cream truck, tries to beat you up, then *splat*, dead on the pavement. Now if that's not entertainment, I don't know what is!

oh, BTW:

speaking of exo-skeletons....

there was a company that started creating advanced exoskeletons and mechanical support systems, along with a very powerful system called HAL 5 (Hybrid Assistive Limb)...

they created all those systems and the exoskeletons in 2009, which is 7 YEARS AGO.
they have also done great leaps in their robotics department, and they are geniuses, people from japan who create new robotic works every year.

what the name of the company, you ask?

why, its...

...cyberdyne.

im not even kidding.

craaazy coincidence, right? lets hope that its not a sign! lol! :P

here are some links of cyberdyne and of their works:

their wiki article:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyberdyne_Inc.

their site:
http://www.cyberdyne.jp/english/

a recent article about them:
http://paleofuture.gizmodo.com/theres-a-real-robotics-company-called-cyberdyne-and-now-1679979930

its a crazy coincidence, and i always bring it up, when people are talking about ''exoskeletons'' and ''great robotic technology'', its fun. (and a cool piece of trivia!)

I see they refined the look of it, you get bonus points for all the links!

It's a question of battery power and possibly motor over heating. Fuel cells might be the answer, let's hope Cyberdyne is working on that, before they run out of money. Maybe they're working on an energy-recovery system, that would better suit it to life in the field... at least they've got Japan to sign off on foreign sales.

As for me, I got my fill of bots in the 1980's with the dubious Transformer cartoons, and pricey but fun origami match box cars made in their image... dey took ur jerbs >:(

That warriors gif got that scene stuck in my head now.

Thanks for that! lol

Almost makes you wanna buy an old copy of Rockstar's 'The Warriors', eh? Almost the whole cast came back to do the VA work for the game... and yeah, some of them did sound older.
