I might get those rear window louvers at some point. You know the ones that look like blinds.

Were they an optional extra? They would help decrease the amount of light entering the car, keep it cool in the summer, possibly prevent glare. My buddy had them on his '84 Mustang, they were quite awesome, but it did over darken the interior (which was small compared to your yacht)

Nope. Not even in my wildest dreams did I think I'd have one. I've wanted this specific year and model for a long time though. Like ever since I was a kid. My dad passed on buying a sea foam green one that was also a 71 and it was only $5000 and was pretty much done for the most part when I was a lot younger. And then that car just stuck in my head.

I have a feeling that a lot did. But I really don't wanna think about that haha.

Dude you have no idea how well I know that. My riviera needs the ac fixed in it and I cannot afford it right now. So I just roll the windows down when it gets hot out.

It really is. I hope I can get mine to at least look decent whenever I can find that stuff. But I doubt I'll be able to find it for a bit. Especially since I haven't been able to track down any new ones for it. It's the biggest thing I need for the interior because (aside for the carpet) everything is there and looks good.

It was an aftermarket thing you could get directly from Ford. You CAN still get them new but they cost like $250-350 depending on where you get it.

Hey yeah, I remember you mentioning how your Pop passed on the sea foam green one. Wonder how many years ago that was... no not rly.

I'm sure you've got a wish list of car parts as long as your arm dude, and not just for the '71 Mustang!

Oh god. That had go have been like 10-12 years ago.

Yeah I really do haha. Especially for the Ranchero. I really only need to get the bed on that power washed and then get some bed liner on it. Then get a spring fixed in the seat and maybe get those pin stripes taken off so it's solid black and purple.

Speaking of which that ranchero is at least a solid foot longer than the Mustang.

It's funny, my pal who had the 84' Mustang, had a Ranchero (hell's yea it's long!) before that. Forgot what year, but it was in okay shape, shit brown, had some electrical/starter problems, so he sold it before leaving with his family to Florida.

Never been a fan of bed liners, wood slats on the ribbing -okay, sprayed on liner -okay, but water always seems to get underneath it, skuffle about, shatter and crack. The one in my Pop's truck has been there as long as I've been on the site, and still looks and works great. http://liners.rhinolinings.com/en/retailers/search?cct=US&spr=IL

Maybe it was just me, but haven't seen you on in a while. glad to see your back on, and hopefully doing good. Hope the new year goes good for you man.

I pretty much closed down after my brother passed away, and before that the moving around, it's not been a good past few months. I should be able to go to Pico day this year, maybe things will look better then.

Congrats on sticking around here with us. Cant remember when I made an account. This one replaced the old one but Ive been here since I was like 9 or 12. Wish Id been more active and gotten serious about voice acting.

Ah, you still can! It's just hard finding a good microphone, and setting up a sound dampening zone you can wail in. Sometimes a cheapie condenser mic will do the trick, so long as you use Audacity to scrub the s/n out of it.

hello there vic, how are you?

got any updates?

BTW, to reply on your latest reply to me:

1. yes, i would love to see more ''on-screen'' medal achievements for NG veterans as yourself, and to people like you, who have contributed alot in this site.
it would be great.
i have many ideas about this, if you want to hear my ideas, tell me!

2. woah, consumptionjunction.com, you say?!
i remember that site! i lurked that site back on 2002-2005, and i was watching flash movies and playing flash games in there until 2006 (i think), and later on, it became an exclusive site, and nowadays its just a dead site, nothing from it exists anymore.
its kinda sad, i've spended many hours in consumptionjunction.com, and in sites like miniclip.com, SFDT.com(stickfiguredeaththeater.com, it had random funny stick animations), CI8D.com (i think it had some funny flash games, like ''help madonna write her grammy speech'' or something, celebrity games, (like britney's games in here, sim dates, etc etc)
i have many memories from all those flash movie/game sites.

however, NG was one of the first flash sites that i've visited, and its the best, by a long shot.
it has a great core, good creations, and (mostly) a nice community, while it feels very cozy, and thats why i love it so much.

its perhaps the best flash movie/game site in the world, and im not even exaggerating.
also, unlike other flash movie sites, newgrounds feels like... home.
like a family bussiness, with tom, wade, his loyal admins and mods, and the whole crew being so friendly and honest to eachother and to us, that it really feels like we are all part of a big, happy internet family that helps eachother.

(and in a way, it kinda is. other sites are corporations, bussiness, they only want you as a ''potential customer''. not NG. ng wants you for being you and creating art/posts/everything. thats why NG is worth fighting for. and thats just 1 of the many reasons as to why NG is great.)

3. hehehe, come on, am i a pillar of the community? i believe that this title belongs to great people like you.
but thanks for the (huge) compliment! :D
you made my day!

4. you should write a book. i mean, honestly, your posts are always nicely written, properly organized, and you have a good narrative.
why not trying it out?

you could possibly write a future masterpiece (or at least a badass book about your adventures, or a fictional novel about something.)
you can write well, so i think that it would be worth it for you, if you wrote a book.

5. yep, NG is worth fighting for, and i will do my best to help in this cause!

6. thank you!
be well, and have a nice day.
i wish the best for you, man!

PS: PM me anytime, i will be more than happy to talk with you, about anything.

Every 2 or 3 posts I make on the 'latest news' thread, is to bitch about a lack of: secrets, awards, blam/save animations... if you have any ideas, spill a few there for Tom to read! I think it's crucial to reward users for voting on submissions (now that the 100$ monthly award's no more) and such.

Yeah, I found a few old Flash sites that have been around almost as long as NG has, but they don't have the backbone and scope NG does.

Thanks man, nice of you to say! To me, my writings here are kind of all over the place, bordering on the fringe of proper journal writing (especially my earliest posts).

I'm sorry about your lost, truly. And how other things have going for you the past few months. I hope you get to Pico day, and my thoughts and prayers for you. Everyone's luck eventually changes, is a thing my grandfather use to tell me, maybe your day will be soon, hopefully.

My Ma used to say I had the rottenest luck. Usually if my luck does change, it's for something small, then it resets to its usual shitty demeanor lol

I'm pretty sure the Ranchero is the longest car we've ever had.

Well I've been more looking to do a rhino liner thing on it. Someone me and my dad know does rhion liner stuff. He made a car out of a Hudson and a Cadillac (he calls it a "Hudillac") and used it on the entire bottom of the car when he was building it.

Galaxy 500 was the biggest car I've ever been in, likely slightly wider than the Ranchero.

Very rare to see 'early mods' like that anymore. Yeah that shit makes a super sweet undercoating, just gotta make sure they treat what they say they will.

hello man!

1. yes, those are good ideas, sir.
however, in the thread where tom announced that he would ''remove the 100$ award'' for voter of the month, i posting my idea/suggestion, which was quite clever as a compromise:

i suggested, that, instead of removing the ''voter of the month award completely'' (and thus damaging the people's motivation), to make the award 5$.
so, in that way, instead of giving 100$ per month to the winner(1200 per year), tom would only give 5 dollars per month to the ''voter of the month'', a MUCH more survivable and affordable alternative to the old award. (so it would be 5$ per month, and 60 $ per year, alot less than 1k+)

also, i would suggest (like you say), to add more medals, NG badges and stuff.
those things are popular. i love those awards.

2. yep, we both agree on that.
NG is by far the most epic, the BEST animation/games site in the world, and it also feels cozy, just like home/ a family business.
and i love it.

3. i mean it. you are one of the best people in here, and members like you are the glue that keeps us all together.
remain awesome!

PS: post more ''random photos/pics/info/stuff from various websites, i really enjoyed this newspost, i like watching internet random files, and learning e-history of various places, its cool.)

have a nice day!

When I built my first computer in 1996, the internet connection was shit, but about 4 years later, my 2GB hard drive was full, I let a lot of neat old shit go, focusing on mp3's and early viral mpg's.

Yeah next post, I'll try and dig a little deeper into what few pics and gifs I have, some of the gifs are so old, they won't play any more.

@chris-the-stick2
They could go with $20 or $25 instead of $100.
If they went with $20 it'd add up to $240 a year. And $300 for $25.

Yeah that's what I was thinking too. Late last year I made a donation to NG that would've covered that kinda prize money for a year lol. The amount shows up when I look at the supporter page.

Yeah those things tend to be pretty massive too. What year was it?

Heres a pic so you can see what it looks like. I've seen this in person and while it was in the middle of being built. He took the engine out of an old Cadillac Hurse. The dude has been customizing cars since the 60s. I have a feeling he knows what he's doing haha.
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/6e/1947_Hudillac.jpg

Fuck, IDK late 70's, early 80's wasn't too brash looking.

Holy Christ on a stick that's sweet :O Same guy made that one? Damn... that's farming of a different flavor, same deal though: work your ass off, harvest (takes a little longer in farming), then use the money to keep pressing on.

@Viper :
dude, if NG is having problems with gathering funds, then even the yearly total of 240$/20$ per month would be TOO much for them to handle....

so, my solution, 5$ per month (with a 60$ per year cost), would be the perfect equivalent for a cheap, sustainable ''voter of the month'' award.
i have also suggested this idea to tom fulp, i posted it in his old newspost, back when he first mentioned that he would remove the ''voter of the month'' award.

BUT, to cement such an award, NG should give, along with the 5$ prize, some ''pixel awards'', and/or some cool NG badges in the profile of each person who would win the ''voter of the month award''.

like i've mentioned before, people like us love cool NG badges/medals/ranks, it gives us the proper feeling of being rewarded for our contributions to the site.

(just like vicariouse has also said, very correctly, a few posts above)

also, @vicariouse :
yes, i agree with you!

and yes, indeed, back in the 90's/2000's the internet speeds, HD's storage, and pc's abilities sucked alot.
i started using a PC in early2001/late 2002, so i know about these stuff.

many sites came and left, and many wonderful flash communities faded into obscurity.

sure, show us more cool old stuff from the net, i like your posts, man!
have a nice day, vic, and be well!

Yeah, you're likely right about the monthly cash reward. One thing Tom does hold back on: Supporter Upgrades. I believe he's very sensitive about giving out awards/rewards, because he knows letting too many of them go, would dilute the sweetness, the exclusivity of such a perk. A 25$ yearly S.U. doesn't necessarily cost NG 25$ in profit each year (though for some content providers/members here, I suppose it could?)

Gotta play to the demographic you're serving, if you wanna survive. Though I admit, I wouldn't want the responsibility of a 13-25 year old digital free-for-all zone. Really glad Tom and/or Wade got 2 upstanding Aussies on board as mods, so far this year :)

Ah, that's not bad, turn of the century HD's were what, around 20-30 GB? That's not bad, and by that time DVD burners were coming out, archiving was actually a good solution. I thought I'd be a fair bit older by the time terabyte drives finally came out...

My next blog/newspost is gonna be (another) doom 'n gloom about 'living in America'
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c5BL4RNFr58 20th century James Brown/Rocky

So something like this?
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/0e/Galaxie_Landau_1982.JPG

Same guy who Rhino Lined the bottom of his car? Yeah. He did it on THAT car. Took him a long long time to get the car to look like that too. He sometimes takes it out for car shows around here. But he normally takes it to shows that are out of state.

Yeah but older, heavier, makes the NG tank look tiny! My brother's GF had a brain fart while driving around Philly, and drove over a rather tall curb doing 30mph or so. Glad I had just put my seatbelt on, otherwise I would've broken my neck on the roof :O

People are so rich around here, they just sell their cars and trucks when the potholes and nasty winter de-icing chems have done their damage, very little preventative maintenance. The (cheap ass) running boards on my Pop's truck was worth every penny, to keep the bits of road from hitting the lower panels!

Same guy is almost 80 and rides everywhere in town on a bicycle.

Wish my legs (and back) could do that, but I'd likely end up as an SUV's hood ornament |: I guess that's one of the perks of living in a small town: being able to pedal around without fearing for your life. Thanks to Obummer they've more than doubled the guard rails around here, leaves no place to pull over or for slower vehicles to safely ride.

Oh, thanks for the shout-out in the BBS!

Hey congrats on the 300 fans!

And congrats on having a 101 fans yourself! You've been a positive force all over the site (even the BBS lol) and deserve such a following ;)

I wasn't in a good frame of mind the past day or two, so I lurked my fan count on my down the list (I wasn't logged in) to see if there were any emergency-like messages.

Jeez thats a huge car. Then again I'd probably be cool with it because I like bigger cars. But thats honestly mostly because of foot room. I like plenty of foot room haha.
Well I'm glad it didn't do anything to you having her do that. Can only imagine how much of a pain that'd be.

Only car of mine that I drive in the winter is my Riviera. And I wouldn't sell it for anything. Unless I had the ability to get another car to drive anywhere since any other car I have has antique plates on it. Even the Mustang now. But yeah trust me. We get more than our fair share of pot holes and absolute shit road conditions here. Hell my road alone has been in need of repairs for awhile now and they still haven't gotten around to doing anything about it. The last thing they did was work a bit on a corner by my house like 10 years ago. It fucking blew my mind when I saw the road done and got to walk around on it when I was able to.

Yeah same here. My knees wouldn't be able to keep up with doing that for too long. I'd feel lucky just getting across town. And my town's not even that big.

No problem

Now that I look back, my brother ex--gf (the one with the Galaxy 500) was a bit of a prat. Her family was well to do, and somehow tolerant of her pot smoking wayward ways... saw a bit of that upper class behavior while searching for a decent rental last year... guess I'm not ghetto or upper class enough to fit in, in the areas I was looking

The Riviera's a wonderful car! Eh, that's way I'm not a fan of modern housing, which makes no through roads, and only little spurs off to the side... which makes the old main roads over worked, and the new homeowners happy to be segregated. BLuh, tired...

I'd say i've got 101 fans too many, i do much of nothing around here.
Well, i do let the ads play around the site so Tom's kids can eat at the end of the week but everyone does that as well, at least everyone who's got half a heart.

I wouldn't say i'm a positive force throughout the site, i have my fair share of shitposting and trolling but thanks for the kind words, amigo.

Nah, you a good poster dude, especially for this site.
Tom's Kids, sounds like a charity! Anyway his wife and kids show up after lunch on Pico Day, and they look reasonably well fed, good natured, full of piss and vinegar.

I'll reply to your response later but I wanted to share this.

Recorded this after listening to Echoes from Live in Pompeii last night.

Sounds like a steel guitar played in a Fallout 4 building, nice! I had my koala burgers while watching 'the good the bad and the ugly', certainly are similar sounding :) Sounds like you a decent night last night, gonna upload this here? Maybe split it into 2-3 parts, if you found a section of the session not up to snuff or just wanted to name the progressions... though I'm more than halfway through it and haven't caught anything distressing yet. Very cool, wish I had good instruments to work with, like I did back in the videotape days.

It's also got a 'apocalypse now'ish kinda quality.

@Viper: dude... i liked your song!

and if you are listening to ''Echoes'', from ''live in Pompeii'' , then you certainly have good music taste!
i love pink floyd, and i believe that they are excellent in their music!

which are your favorite songs/bands/singers? (this questions applies to everyone in this newspost, anyone who wants to talk about music tastes, reply back)

@VicariousE: hello man, whats up?
congrats on the 300 fans! THIS IS... SPARTAAA!
keep on rocking, and remain cool! :D

Never saw the whole flick, but the 300 number was tickling something in brain storage..

Wow those 25 minutes flew by. Good instrumentals sound like the pattern the human heart makes, over the course of a day (there's a program out there that can attribute notes to the time between heart beats), really sweet and telling.

nice!

in june it's gonna be 10 years since i created mine

I'm sure a lot's happened since you've joined up, and your perspective of the site has likely also changed.
