The pre-2000 scam was: offer free email, then sell the business and/or addresses to a spammer. Early on, you only got one email address through your ISP, which you could never get rid of... you'd have to buy another package to get 3 email accounts... bleh. Then I saw schmucks like Pimp racking in the b/p and daily points... then I lost my password AND email address, until I found an old password list during a move...

Reason #3956 why I hate this country: They pass a law saying all TV's have to go digital, yet still sell TV sets that don't pick up that signal! Then Congress turns around and says Whoops, and hands out these 40$ coupons, for something that should cost 40$, only the gizmo makers charge 80$... and the coupons were only good for 6 months |: The coupon was actually the thickest fanciest credit card type plastic I've seen since I was a little kid :|
The new LCD's have digital tuners, but I hear the digi signal is rather crappy (low power), but at least there's more than just the usual suspects to watch (apparently)

Aw man. About the time you wrote this, I had to put a kitten down. He had a big chunk of skin tore from his backside yesterday, and was bleeding today. If he was a normal sized kitten, he could lick himself, but he was stubby legs and squatish. It's slightly likely he wouldn't have made it much longer anyway, due to his lack of rear development :\
