I've tried one or two of them in the past... if you remember which one's better, send it along to Misty!
They didn't have any good Sega CD games on file then, maybe they do now.
Use Regen or Kega Fusion...
When's "then"?? Practically all 16-bit games are catalogued online now
Before 2008, when I was still using my 200Mhz beast. I didn't have the net at home, so any movies, pictures, flash games, and music still worked okay.
Thanks, I'll let @mistyentertainment know you found 2 Sega emulators...
Dude you are hurting my head XD
Before 2008 = ???
because all fourth generation games have pretty much been dumped to ROM since the early 2000s
You didn't have the net at home....what does that have to do with how well media works on your computer LMAO
but flash games on a 200 Mhz computer...that's hard to believe. But I suppose it's possible, as Flash was released in 1996 IIIRC...I wonder what the specs where of Tom's PC when he first started animating and working on NewGrounds...
Hm, well I never found the games I liked, like Lunar: The Silver Star or the Apache helicopter game... I had a 6 button controller that worked well on that one.
No, I just scavenged stuff to CD Roms or flash drives. DSL cost a bundle and I wasn't going back to dial-up :|
I'm sure his rig was better than my first one, but not by much! You can get a lot done with very little, it's only graphics that demand such a huge swath of techopower
just googled the first one and it's available now...anyhow you probably just used a sh*t search again back then like ask jeeves lmao
same here...except my situation was more dire...my build didn't have any USB ports, had a CD-R player but my main method of transport was floppy disks with split files if necessary...I also only had 1 GB of hard drive space. Couldn't get the internet to work on it either...so ungrateful lol I couldn't even get dialup
that, and audio generators...and big O algorithms of high magnitudes of order...unfortunately programs and webpages that aren't graphic intensive are a rare breed these days...
I used Yahoo back then, Dogpile, some others.
Huh, my first build had 2GB, but I don't recall a USB on the MB, though there wasn't anything fancy for me to plug in... just used machine port, MIDI/gameport or serial cable, that was easy to configure, had a digital camera that would hook up using that.
Yeah, webpages could really take all that horsepower out there and make it snazzy! Just too scared to scale it or alienate shitty PC's like mine (or the working poor and elderly on crap donated systems). I'm shocked I can still run FF and almost all the shit here... memory's a big issue @ 513mb |:
well then...that will teach ya
you mentioned flash drive...you were able to connect one the serial port using some kind of converter? or was there another type of flash drive that I don't know about (pre-USB)
my first computer is a 3 ft tower that has 64 MB lulz runs DOS my dad used it to do engineering programming and modeling hehe. We also had it connected to a giant printer...worked slow as hell, was loud as hell, and used these large rolls of paper that printed out with serrated edges lmao
Speaking of printers, the first printer of that was a small lexicon color printer that was worked like crap..went through a few those. I pretty much gave up on them (all modern ink printers), I print at a library if necessary (most stuff is digital nowadays) but the best printer I had was a heavy ass IBM laser printer from the 80s. Haven't used it since the mid 2000s but it was still running on the original laser cartridge I believe.
I used the usb flash drive with my 2008 build... prior to that, the only fancy thing I plugged in to my old rig was a camera via the serial port, which needed fettling of course. Nah, just hard floppies and a lot of burnt CD's to bring stuff home to my first PC... that was my inventory lol
the first printer after that*
typing too fast...drinking too fast...thinking too fast...proofreading too fast (or not at all)
Yep it was Lexicon and Casio... I had an LX-50 color printer (only if you used colored ribbons and had a program to match), which was a baby dot matrix.. used to do fonts quite well in quality mode, but holy hell, the noise!!! Never had a daisy wheel or plotter, though I did use them in the past.
It's amazing those IBM printers still run, it's just a matter of drivers.... last PC tech job I had was to straighten them out, because the guy who set up that abortionated network was on vaca |: I gave up after 2 hours, but if I had the time, I would've had to spend a few days and nights to figure it out.
It's a shame what modern technology demands...I remember back in 2006 when the monitor on my main PC blew a fuse I unsuccessfully connected a perfectly good Tatung monitor from the 80s...just was about 1 foot thick and weighed a ton. Couldn't really see anything past the startup screen, even if loaded with safe mode and it's primitive resolution settings. When it comes to speakers & printers though, PCs seem to be less fickle with which hardware they are compatible with.
Just remembering that monitor though lol...when you shut it down it made a laser noise and even made a small flash...Use it long enough without going into screensaver mode and it would leave an imprint on the screen
I bought an IBM monitor made in the early 80's, only because I had seen many pictures of people decorating theirs (since there was so much plastic around the edges of the screen, and below that). Heavy as a bundle of roof shingles. Had to carry it over a 1/10 of a mile, across an open air auction. And did my younger friends help? No |: I think I still have it on storage, but lol, it would dim the lights when powered on!
Screen burn in... used to get that a lot in old arcade game screens, almost to the point where you couldn't play them. Think it had to do with the silver getting whiter from overexposure...
Listened to it once before sleep, and once after I've had a few sips of tea... though I'm not looking forward to this Twinkie. Like a lot of things in life, it doesn't taste like it used to; used to be real sugar crystals in these bombers, and the cake was... cake, not *opens, eats* not cooked meal :p I bet the old machines that made this remember the original recipe.
Hey! You were one of the first people to talk to me on this site. My old account (which I forgot existed until seeing your username reminded me it existed): http://cantanim.newgrounds.com/ . It really meant a lot to me.
I see you all over the place on Newgrounds. Your presence doesn't go unnoticed. Good luck sorting out your thoughts; it's not easy!
I'm a coward and a hedonist in real life, but here, I can remind others
"You are not alone"
If we're all trapped in this digital birdcage, we might as well sing.
Thanks man, I'm just glad I found this place. It's like old America used to be, before we were born.
The 'common cause' used to be independence, but it really meant elevating our fellow man. I forgot about that, just went on auto pilot. If I get a good night's sleep, I wake up feeling like it could never be that way again, that we gave up too much... In our adoration of the machines we built, we gave the machine builders preferential treatment, a very un-American thing.

... I had something like this in mind http://www.newgrounds.com/art/view/kamikaye/airjam
Can't be more specific, as my fantasies are kinda private ;)
