playing Road of the Dead on .5 GB? you must get some major lag. i'm running a standard 2 GB laptop on low quality, and the lag starts to get fairly bad after driving about 2 km or so in the game.

Oh man, you have no idea. It starts out running okay, but despite the scalable nature of the code, it lags terribly the more it's played. I don't think I'd be able to get some of those juicy 100 point medals for playing the thing all the way through... takes hours! And my left hand gets microwaved terribly :(

"It was like having a football game: freshmen versus seniors, in a Mad Max world."
Oh why you?!! now you made me curious!!

Eh, the Mods changed so often, it looked like a McDonalds employee list :| It was cruel as stomping a kitten, and as amazing as science fiction, all at the same time. Vulgarity became an art form, and it was funny as hell when the little kids tried to do it.

yeah, i'm sure government related institutions and serious businesses have their private email servers just in case, but it's not like you want to reveal a credit card number or social security # over the internet anyway...even if you purchase something on the internet using such methods, the credit card # is blocked out in the email receipt.

Google indirectly sends only the personal information that you give them (when you sign up for google services, not by relaying data through email messages...to advertising companies that are looking for demographics and population statistics. With that, Gmail also scans your messages and advertises something relevant to words in the email. I believe you can turn this option off, but I think it's a small fair trade off for google to make a little money for providing invaluable, free services to me.) However, this is accumulated data, and the advertising companies/third parties no absolutely nothing about your personal data, individually. Unless you actually click on the ads and directly submit your info to them there.

there's certainly several laws and acts that deem such illegal for a company to sell your information without your consent. of course when you get into rules and regulations regarding electronic mediums the content within gets rather hairy and there's always exploitable loopholes. But I still don't see how the freedoms you would have to renounce for a (legitimate) free email service is any different than what you give up to NG or any other internet group. I mean, flash is on the decline, Tom may end up selling the website (and the user DB's info with it) to a larger internet company.

I dont think I could manage to get the hardcore mode medal for that game. if you dont know, that medal is rewarded if you play the whole story mode without dieing, which is fairly simple if you have near max stats. but my game was lagging so bad about halfway through that I just got bored and gave up.

Yeah, tell me about it... And it's not like the NSA actually ask for much, because they have some pretty brilliant keyword searchers and forwarders tied into all the major communication hubs, locked behind doors with keycard entries. It's not a rumor it's true, two different ppl who've worked in those buildings... well, they can't attest to it, but between you, me and the Lord of Hosts.....

Y'know Yahoo's just as bad if not worse, but in the past few years, they've toned it down, so you can't notice from the ads.... the wool pulled over our eyes is done slowly, generationaly.

Nah, Flash is used on YouTube, isn't it? Almost every ad, that isn't an e-linked jpeg or gif, is a Flash, as are a shit-ton of video players/streamers. HTML5 certainly is taking off, but I wonder how far Unity will go.... Until Tom describes this new beast to me, I ain't gonna install it. Funny I don't remember installing Flash the first time, but I imagine I researched it pretty well beforehand. Also sure Tom or someone wrote, on the site, about Flash and installation details |:

I gave that fucker what for, but considering the lag added to total time.... more than 2 hours to finish, I imagine. In the past month, I could've spent $ on a new computer, and I haven't :| Dunno why, just got used to this 2 stroke, 30cc turd. The WiFi g works so damn well! So many presets to fuck with... had to even revert back the driver, because the newer one was just featureless.

And.. nah. If Tom sells NG, he's going to sell it AS, NG or not at all. Or he'd at least say 'abandon ship', and I'll wipe the servers of ppl who've quit the site. But all's fair in love and war (economics), eh?

pffttss i cant even read my own handwriting sometimes lol not unless i really try to make it nice

Yeah, takes a while to improve enough, so your brain can understand it later... for me, it was in my early 30's

Man, there's meltdowns happening everywhere!! The implications are staggering |:

I WANT ONE

IKR? Not crazy about the font used for the username, but shit yeah, it's pretty damn cool!

I still think if Tom distributed NG business cards (just for the site, not he user), to everyone he mails checks to, or Store stuff to, regular users like us could spread the word about NG without having to explain too much shit.... just spoils the mood |:

Comic San for the username everything else is perfect.

Oh, whoops, didn't see your comment! Yeah, I agree, it's a good font... I may actually take it upon myself to get a few hundred generic Newgrounds cards and send them to Tom, to send out in mail orders and ad-rev checks.

While e-advertising is most suited for a website, I think the personal approach might do a bit better... and since I made them, hopefully no one would hoard them, and actually carry and hand them out!

I totally just hit level 30 ._.

This time next month, I'll be level 41 :)

ohnowait... that's the lifeometer reading... I'll be level 28 this time next month
gotta take the good with the bad, eh? Congrats dude, you're halfway to Godhood.

In like 6 months I'll be "level" 21 ._. and yet I have not done anything with my life....

My alt that I vote on stuff with is going to level up in 16 days. And then it'll be I wanna say level 21.
Thanks. And not really. I'm halfway there level number wise. But I need like 36,000 xp for level 60 and I'm only at 9,340. I'm going to get 31 when I have 9,990 though. Then after one more day I will have exactly 10,000 xp. Woo to wasting more of my life on here. Haha.

Yeah, the gradient gets steeper as ya goes :\ I don't even think Phantasy Star 2 was this bad, took me a month to get to lvl 7 and to the second village - totes bonkerzoids mon. I think the battery in the cart would've expired before I finished....

I'm in between building stats on ROTD2 - only 2 ppl have gotten all the stats maxed, maybe I got a chance at the first 6 slot! Glad your computer box is okay now... the tech say anything about what the problem was?

RIP level 60

Yeah... doubt I'll survive long enough to get that level. Pity, that.

Oh well, I just say to myself, "It's the journey, not the destination that matters." The longest car (truck) trip I've ever made, was 10 days, across the Northern Half of America with my Pop. I can only say, that, like Newgrounds, the more you travel, the more time has a way of slowing down, just like in real physics - astronauts traveling at dizzying speeds, always come back, with watches that read seconds behind, what the real time is!

Agh but do i have the time to participate in this kitty smashing amazing science fiction feast?!!!!
Also was there a problem with the comment update? apparently your replied to me 3 days ago...

I dunno, it's possible... I'm just a fallible, irrational pile of meat, running a computer.

Oh, what sci-fi kitty killing bonanza were you referring to?

Actually I don't think the number stops at like 85 or 90. I saw a few people with fake ages on their accounts and they were over that.

Really? Huh. Maybe the age limit got lifted. I remember a few scalawags complaining about a limit some time ago. I should make fun of ppl who have erroneous ages :) maybe ask them about things, they know nothing about, like, when Ike was president or about the German U boat that got sunk off the Jersey shore....

The one in the old BBS with the ever changing mods!

I asked the number 2 guy (as far as Level) about what could be improved about the site, and he said the BBS could use a structural makeover - I guess I've seen better elsewhere, but a few worse ones.

Eh, things were different in the 20th century, the internet was still growing by leaps and bounds, and Tom was just trying to keep the money coming in to pay for servers and space... Was just reading in Wired, about how the term 'viral' came about in the late 90's... I got a lot of videos from before that time period, a few I've never seen since.

I don't know man, i'm very ignorant about forums, and i try to actively avoid them unless my participation presents itself as a necessity... yeah i know... i'm an awful bastard that only post on forums to ask question about his own selfish interest! but if it wasn't for that i would be living inside the internet, for even more than what i already do! and i don't even use Facebook!!!!!

Ugh, Facebook is all exposition and no pants :p looks like rat cage... Yeah, but it's all addictive, isn't it?

I got so much more done when I was stealing internet at the library, a relatives house on the weekend (every weekend :p) The most efficient, was standing at a workbench at the house next door! I made/found my best friends here at NG, freezing my ass off in an unlit, unheated garage in the wee hours of the morning!

Damn man you are a hardcore internet catcher, but how do you bypass the password for the wireless? or it is free why 5?

Well, after my car accident, I couldn't drive anywhere to get the internet. So I asked the neighbor/tenant, if I could borrow hers. She said yes, and I camped out in her garage (which used to be mine, which used to be my Mom's...)

WPA can be hacked quite easily, not so with WPA2... never tried it myself though >.> But for a while, I did prowl the perimeter of the farm looking for unlocked wifi....

Oh... so that means you can't initiate me in the ways of hackery?
mmmh... but which publicity scheme will allow for an open Wifi red inside your farm's perimeter?

Nah, would just take forever to find the link to the hacking program... but it shouldn't be too hard to find 'wpa hack'. Even though the McMansions surrounding me have dwellers who make more in one year then i have in 10... I'd still feel losuy about nicking their wifi

Ah, no PR campaign could boost the signal past it's OEM specs... it's up to the clever thief, and a bit of 3rd world engineering, to get a useable signal to my ivory (farmhouse, 2nd floor) tower....

Haha no man i don't want to steal internet per see, i want to invade my neighbors red and then mess with their printer for each time that they get obnoxiously loud, i can't remember who give me the idea, but is a damn good idea, ink nowadays is expensive!!

Ju... just what kind of antennae did you engineered Mr. Vicarious?!!!

Oh man, I'm no good at networking :) but what you suggest is damn possible! Dem new printers are wireless, so why not hack their shit and print porn, instead of Timmy's book report >:)

You know, if you found out what kinda printer it is, load some drivers from the company's website... go from there.

Well Mr. Roar, it was a hard learned lesson, one which I forgot, since my brother told me when I was 6 or 7, and I'm now 40... http://www.newgrounds.com/dump/item/150003c4d4256780ec9c35b8d4129fa6 This an old picture, I'm standing directly in front of where the signal comes (up) into my room from the window (direct-line-of-sight).

Even now, I cannot sit directly in front of the laptop. The crumpled foil prevents hot spots, and reflects the sub-watt signal, down onto the built in antenna. The driver to the 10 y/o wifi G chip, is quite robust.... enough so I could lengthen the latency of the signal to cover 300 feet, at, say 12 degrees of inclination from the source, which helps: radio waves go out and up omnidirectionally

Hold it your bro knew how to get wifi... almost 34 years ago?!!

Yeah i remember seeing someone using the old aluminum foil for enhancing their TV reception, i guess it should work for this too, but ain't it kinda delicate? any sudden movement and you loss the signal?

Simple radio signal mon, and the driver presets attenuated that signal, don't matter if it's digital or analog :p

It is, but it's hot up here, so I need a fan and an a/c depending... on I have the foil blu-tak(ed) into position... it's a kind of poster putty... If the electricity in the service wire outside gets quirky, the signal gets distorted to the point where it won't transmit/send data

so i guess that even with all that it is quite stable given the circumstances. The more you know...
On the other hand i can't remember my first real modem, i can only remember that i suffered plenty of times with callers disconnecting me... and i think up to these days, and i still hate phones even if there's no real reason for it haha.

Nah, phones are tricky, and strike you when you least expect it. Yet another reason why I wasn't online for an appealing amount of time - I dropped my ISP and phone thinking I could buy a DSL connection (they were soo cheap then!), but by the time I did, all the penny=ante operators shut down or got taken over by the big boys, and the prices went up and up and up. I dropped cable after they raised rates 3 times in one year... and at the time, they were the only ones lading out over-dialup speed |:

"...Games, Animations, Art, Lit, Audio, Community, Fun..."

you forgot, "...and the occasional buggery." xD

Oh there's always buggery :) But you get that everywhere these days, it's just that NG has a certain panache... Renaenae made that (card) up after Pico day, when I suggested Tom mail out non-personalized, Newgrounds business cards, to the recipients of mail order and ad-rev checks. If I got them after buying a Supporter Upgrade, I'd certainly keep 'em with me, and hand them out to prospective trolls... members |:
