A tragic confluence of events... he took the same BP meds too long without getting his kidneys checked, and then let someone into his home that bought and prepared cheap, salty, fatty, shitty food, for 2 years :( Plus his miniscule gall bladder stones decided to act up during his first surgery, thereby tainting the field and the plastic artery graft, with normally inoffensive bacteria (vancomycin drip for 8 days with vacuum on the area in question...)
Damn man, those are some terribly shitty combos.
He didn't think he'd survive after the artery operation (4 hours on the table). He was shaking and crying for pain meds, he also thought his heart couldn't stand it. In the last post I described the kind of effects an operation has. The taking his leg will be easy compared to that :(

With amputation I don't think it's about the pain so much, but rather the itch of healing nerve endings driving the person nuts.
Yeah, I think he's on that smack... he's always claimed codeine makes him mental, so that and his kidney probs limit his drug choices, but only slightly.

This cute chick came in all concerned about his pain, but when I suggested a lidocaine patch for his lower leg she seemed miffed, since her and her crew couldn't make money off of him for such a simple thing. Maybe I'll bring one from home.

Yeah with reduced blood flow, it'll throb and cramp, so the IV meds won't reach the nerves. I suggested a more local pain treatment, but she was oblivious.
Finished boiling the cheap chicken to make soup tomorrow, so I better get horizontal.
