Surreal, but held onto the theme with a beginning, middle and ending, that did not disappoint! Sound effects were unconventional and fresh, as was the appropriately snagged Audio portal song (bryce has always been a favorite composer of mine). My brain balls are quite happy with this!

Wow. It's a good thing I live on the East coast, where talk like this happens in every bar on a Friday night... well, certainly not by a sorority sister... but I'm acclimated to outbursts of this nature.
That's one helluva good read! Animation was varied, but a bit stiff. Maybe next time, try adding a few more facial expressions or another angle of the speaker, to break things up a bit.

The sub-text is awesome. The farmer's wife and the shrine's voice were a bit hard to understand, which necessitated another view. The intro scene of destruction, looked rushed and non-specific, and the colors too similar (or was that intentional?)

The scenes weren't awkward, it's all about using a setting as exposition (story-telling), which you did to dern good effect. This is for the first round, right? I'd be pissed if this didn't make it. I'm proud of you man.

SwedishPlumTrees responds:

Thanks for the review. I realize now how badly some character's were voiced. Will try to work on that next time. Also, the backgrounds were kind of rushed, I agree. Will definitely take your points into consideration. Thanks man.

Wow, haven't heard that song since it came out! With a long this long, it would've almost made sense to edit the song down (somehow). Myself, I try not to be a slave to the music I use.
It was clear there was a fair bit of padding to the animation, but it still held my attention. Playing around with the background colors a bit more, during the middle of the animation, might've helped.
Was kinda hoping for some clue as to what the kid was waiting for. Putting in little hints as to the nature of the relationship, would've filled this out more completely. If you hadn't used a commercial song, this might've been a fine NATA entry (I guess the day the letter came, could be considered a holiday).
You're a very promising animator, and I look forward to more good work like this in the future!

Im very thankful man, i'll consider your review for future works...

Awesome sauce. The actual animations were a little jerky (as opposed to fluid or smooth), but all aspects of this were spot on. This piece will be tough to beat. A most excellent entry Hikarian!!

Aside from the way too soft female voice, this whole piece was solid... (The viewer) knew it was going to be an emotional story from the start, but it was well worth watching, even though it was terribly sad.

Straighten out the audio, and this will be a 5 star rating, easy! This is work to be proud of.

Kinda short, animation was stiff, the voice over work was a tad un-enunciated by the women folk, but for an episode #1, it ain't bad! I'm sure you'll get much better at this, and I look forward to more episodes.

TheRealNat23 responds:

I know, it is short, the animation is stiff, and sorry about the voices. The Lo character's voice will be changed the next episode, but otherwise, everybody else will have the same voice actors. Thanks for the compliment!

Only the shadow knows.... where all this will all lead. But it'll probably look pretty damn sweet while doing so.

Bit of Kensington gore there, eh? I'd say your project was a success... it was a shocked laugh, a laugh nonetheless. Good show, the hard work is evident, if a tad short in length.

The overall volume was too low, maybe the piano was a tad loud in the mix, which hindered easy reflection on your words. As far as the video? If this is your first attempt at shooting a little piece, you've done well. Experiment more with lighting, angles, different environments (don't forget to properly white balance before each set up). Would like to see more of these!
