Expanding your cadre of critters? Curious cause for celebration! Not as detailed as some of your other family pictures, but I see a new, comfortable style emerging. Seems like you've changed gears and picked up some speed.

JWBalsley responds:

Thanks again, I also got my studio back again, I was living somewhere else for a year with no good place to get work done. I'm also enjoying coloring more lately, bright colors are fun! I also loosened up a bit lately and am getting tired of all the cross hatching every time. Thanks again!

That color shading is like eye-cotton-candy! I'm a sucker for pretty faces and cuteness. Reminds me of Panty and Stocking's demon rivals somehow. Vera and Riona would make an excellent animation!

Aw, they so cute! Colors, shading and details lovingly compliment the original cartoon characters quite well!
Had to pull half a star since this was just a flight of (stylus) fancy :3 All the seriously detailed pieces you've done in the past, really show in a fun lil challenge like this!

An anglo blonde with slanty eyes? Lol. I like how her outfit is color coordinated, even the hat.
Simple pastels, chunky where it needs to be, curvy where you want it to be... sexy and cute :3
The green part of her eyes could be a tad more round. Shading of the blade could be better.

My, such long arms, especially the one coyly touching her mouth! Love the subdued brown hues and style, the genuine of shyness. A very pretty and alluring Valentines day gift.
Are you dropping gift hints to your fans? Tsk, tsk, tsk... :3

sweetyluli responds:

Maaybbeee XD lol

Extremely attractive and stylistic.. I can forgive the anatomical ratios, since this was based on something I've never seen. I just have a thing for the way you rendered the faces :) and action poses!

Exceptional, just put some clop-clop noises in, and you got all the walk cycle you need!

Twisted4000 responds:

Ha ha, if she was walking I guess

Quite the subject matter! Looks like this would be at home in an old movie theater.
The locks of hair near the scalp look a bit too well formed, and the muscle structure not very well defined... but as this a somewhat effeminate character in a fantasy scene, those criticisms can take a flying f...
Background and other details are just lovely; a damn nice piece!

Nice new approach to coloring and detail!

Well, as you say this is just a test, but I think you did pretty good on your first digital "paint-by-numbers" outing. Your organic, emotive style may take a while to adapt to new methods (used a mouse to color?). The dark shading and colors in this lend themselves very well to depth and shape.
I think the gun (especially the clip) might turn some people off, as well as a lack of detail in the elbow/back spikes and boots. Good show!

JWBalsley responds:

Thanks for the good observations, I'm using a tablet and it still feels weird, I will probably buy a cintiq soon as those feel less like Mario Paint (a fun old game). I need to find some more "streaky" brushes as well.

Thanks again for the critique, it is always appreciated.
