Just a test, nothing to see here.

There's been some lag with updating or even viewing things in the blogs, as well as user icons and some other random things, so I'm gonna see how fast this updates on my end.

  • There is a picture below, I hope.  Maybe it'll make up for my lack of substance just now....

  • ...and here's a gif....

xD Awesome gif. you got there

Yeah, a remnant of my PC technician days, as well as when ST:TNG was still on the air.

Ah blue screens, it feels like a year has passed, but it is really just half a year. Happy times.

Rust, as well as time, never sleeps.

Oh sweet its Data!

The guy who played him, used to play a weird cameo on Night Court... used to be a hit comedy show, back in the day. Actually, I think it's Lore bangin' on the console, Data's evil broseph

Interesting.....

I'm so damn lazy
Test worked out okay; it must be software related. DNS changes usually take only a few hours at most.

Well Data was always a good source of comic relief in Star Trek! That show was funny all around either way

Early M*A*S*H was funny... I guess in the first few seasons Data was the ultimate straight guy. I wonder if the series was running today, if more chicks would like Data, more than some of the other characters.... ST:TNG was more or less pre-internet.

I remember that Top Gear episode. It was awesome.

21st century version of Benny Hill, only with sexy cars and three old men :) There were a lot of good bits in that episode... seeing Hamster get 'enthusiastically' invited into an old person's RV, was pretty damn funny!

The one episode that sticks with me, was the one where they take the place of school kids, who've just got their licenses... they started off the episode by going online to try and find cheap car insurance - whoa. Then, after that, was a cornucopia of varietal goodness. The "Don't Wake the Parents Test" was spot on.

I've heard it said, that Top Gear UK is downloaded on file-sharing, more often than porn is by.. say 15-25 year olds. After the third kid told me about the show, I started filing up HD space :3

just a test, nothing to see here

cool story bro

Yup, I'm all out of motivation to tell stories atm... but if you dig around (old BBS posts), you can read about the bouncer, a pound of weed and the two 7 foot tall mafia guys in the bathroom.

I'm a massive Star Trek TNG fan..... I <3 Data. :)

It was slightly preachy and amateurish in the beginning, but man, what a Godsend it was to TV at the time... there was literally nothing else on worthy of watching.

Brent Spiner lol <3

That was slightly surprising at the time, reading that he was teh womens top pick. But he's such a good actor!

Hmm...okay. Well everything seems to be working fine here.

Also in response to the response of my comment on your previous post.
Nah. NICK is beyond due for a news post.
Why'd he kill himself!? o.O

He graduated last year with a shit ton of honors... and now has nothing, no college, no job, no GF, and thanks to the local cops, no license for a while. He's pondering his fate with Pinky....

TOP GEAR! +1 for you. And everything shows cool.

Yeah, those old farts are still showing us a good time. Glad Hamster didn't get crippled in that Vampyre jet car crash... I read about that before I was a fan of the show.

Ahh, everything looks okay except the header text... it's stock, not stylized (smoothed and compacted)

Hey it's Top Gear! I'm always watching repeats of the show, haha: I think the one I've seen the most times is the Christmas Special where they go to the Middle East. I pretty much know the words, although it amuses me every time.

Also, nice gif. :P

Take care, friend.

That wasn't a bad episode! The one where they went to India left me a bit cringey though :\
Wow, I wish they'd show TG UK on cable... I live in the States, so they show the local version, which kinda sucks.

I almost wasn't gonna use that gif! I should dig up my old hard drives and see what I managed to save from the 20th century... a lot of weird videos and pictures, that somehow haven't made it to today. In the late 90's, a shit ton of servers and computers got seized by the Feds, mainly due to kiddie porn that got uploaded to them.

Thanks for stopping by... maybe I'll actually put some effort into my next post!

Well that sucks. Hope everything works out for him. Any idea as to when he's getting his license back? Because thats kinda necessary for the other things to happen....

Yeah, idk... he was driving with his parents when a cop tagged him for speeding way over the limit, when he was only keeping up with traffic |:

thats not true ._. hes actually busier than you think so that means he has a social life :P

I'm so jelly of his social life... but I'm sure I'd find it lame as hell after a little while... maybe not.

Been kinda losing my mental fudge lately...

im not :P the less friends i have the easier it is to care individually for them all
keeping sane is boring! you see a lot more when insane! :D its kinda like safe acid lol

Hmm, no such thing as safe acid. Yeah, I felt the same way about friends, but I've had back luck with them staying around locally.

LOL The Startrek one...I used to use a windows computer and it did that so much! I was always wondering why their screens never failed...

I guess after a few centuries of programming, they got their shit together. Plus any tech that's medical/transportation related, absolutely must be rock solid, unlike windows 95/98.. which said in their user agreements, they were NOT to be used in aviation or medical systems, whatsoever :p

So, what, you're using Linux or a newfangled portable OS?

Windows 95 is actually stable as hell, used it myself for years. Seems anything past Windows 2000 started getting wonky.

I thought so as well, though I had WIN95b. The OS was way too integrated with MSIE for my liking. While I was at work (and the computer was downloading a demo game), an SSL .dll was loaded into my computer which prevented me from using any networking at all. Had to reload the entire OS, thanks to that. It was only a few kb's, but it was enough to keep me offline. That was a few weeks after Bush II stole the election, and just before we were going to the state capital to protest...

Ah well, it's just like the Scottish engineer said, "The more they overtake the plumbing, the easier it is to stop up the drain."

LOL what does George Bush have to do with Windows 95

Before the supreme court validated the election, there was a lot of fuss. Turns out, later on, 3 hackers who worked through Republican circles ended up dead. They employed monkey in the middle intercepts in FL, OH and some other state, changing the results, when they didn't look like he'd win. My sister called me the day after the election and said she felt a great dread as such an obviously fixed match...

The election went against every exit poll ever done, the margin for error was way too high and one sided. The Bush family had dirt (his Pop ran the NSA you know) on everyone in the Senate, those in the House who tried to petition the Senate... not one Senator would. Too messy to make a fuss, and the news fell in line fast enough.

Anyway, the FBI has been infiltrating the public for quite a while, and a little digital slight of hand, a few seizures of computers, some stern words... I guess around 96-98, lots of servers went dark, for massive mp3 databases and questionable video, most were just confiscated, any kiddie porn, prosecuted... then they went after lesser crimes, then... the internet was tamed. We never did meet up at the state seat :\ Didn't matter though, there were plenty of protests at this obvious whitewash, and the press did it's best to show as little as possible. It was almost like a warm-up for slipping 9/11 past us.

that's a nice conspiracy theory but it still has nothing to do with Windows 95 lol

No it's not theory, sorry. I was in my late 20's when that shit was going down, right in front of my eyes. Didn't find out about the hackers ending up dead, till much later... now there's an article I should find.

But yeah, there's no way to connect it to my computer getting skunked. A few days after I got my computer back online (took 2 re-installs, so I wouldn't lose too much precious data on my 2GB drive), I found the SSL's creator online... government contractor, no commercial sales. Went by the name Hummingbird, but that was in the late 90's; now it's some college security program, idk, I tried to find it, I know they renamed not long after. I'd like to say, they're the same company that makes those huge data interceptors at major internet hubs... yet another thing I can verify from two ppl who worked for AT&T

The way 95 was built, once it was installed, there's no getting it out again. No other explanation for it getting there, unless someone broke into my house with floppy disk in hand. From what I could tell, it was just the first few lines of their non-MS, SSL code, not the whole algorithm.

Too bad http://wurfel-waffles.newgrounds.com/ and his buddy haven't been around in a while... Think I should make a BBS post about this, ask for alternate explanations? I had a PC for years before I got the internet - plenty of time to fuck up and fix my computer...

About 7 of us were going to protest on a Tuesday, and I and another guy got hit Thursday, Friday, a few days before. I had been mostly lurking the mIRC for about 6 months, then found a local group heading to the capital. We think we know who the snitch was, someone who came in later, but had been on the boards before.

I think one or two people actually did go, and one guy claimed his PC got seized, after getting driven to the state's FBI HQ, got fined a fair bit too, he was pissed this was on his record... he was in the National Guard and was hoping to keep climbing the ranks >:(

It's been well over a decade since that happened, and this is the most I've ever talked about it at length, since that time... maybe @Cyberdevil can make some sense of this...

Hmm... getting called in to make sense of.... somehing? :/ My computer era began with Win98 and Mac OS7, 95 was just before my time, and SSL... I thought that was a certificate type only applicable to certain websites, this all sounds way above my head. Read through the last three comments though, interesting stuff as always though - what were you going to protest against? The elections? You think the SSL had something to do with Windows? Government? Third party? What purpose would it have had?

This was Windows internal SSL (Socks 1.2 or something) that got compromised :p It would not connect to the internet, because of a broken SSL that somehow got installed next to MS's encryption. It was WIN95b, probably with SP1 or 2.... and whatever MSIE version was current.

We were protesting the validity of George Bush's election win, the US Senate didn't do a damn thing, and the Supreme Court rubber stamped the election, despite the national outcry.

It was just too damn convenient a bug to be chance. My guess is, that an FBI operator, who would normally look for pedophiles in the chat rooms, forwarded my IP to a skunkworks, set up to deal with groups of users, whether they be terrorists, kiddie pornographers, drug dealers, or civic minded groups.
